Welcome to the Oconee Presbyterian
Church (OPC) website! I wonder what has brought you here? Have you recently
moved to the Oconee County area and you are searching for a church home? Did
driving by our new building pique your curiosity about us? Has someone at
your workplace or in your neighborhood been inviting you to check out OPC?
Whether you are cautiously curious or eagerly inquisitive, I hope that you
will find this website helpful, but what I hope even more is that you will
come visit us and share in the excitement of this growing, lively, loving
faith community!
On this website you can learn about our history, our ministries, our church
leadership, our new building, and our MISSION, VISION and VALUES. Reading
about these things may give you a hint about who we are and what we are
about, but the best way to get to know us better is to come connect with us
in person at a worship service, an education or fellowship event, a small
group gathering, or a mission project.
I think you will find a genuine sense of openness and love among our members
~ authentic fellowship. We strive to make our worship services holistically
engaging and spiritually energizing for people of all ages! We have
educational, fellowship, and discipleship opportunities that stimulate the
mind, nurture the soul, and empower people to live their faith! We offer a
safe place for children and youth to discover, explore and express their
faith. We are engaged in mission projects to serve the community and the
world.
Very early on in our development, one of our young members commented,
“Coming to church at OPC feels like coming home.” We think that’s the way it
should be! We all need a place to come home to: a place to celebrate life’s
joys, a place to find peace and purpose, a place to share burdens and
struggles, a place to discover friendship with God and our place in the
family of God, a place to grow in faith and love, a place to find strength
and compassion, a place from which we can be sent into the world to share
God’s love and our gifts with others! At OPC, we believe that when we
faithfully follow Jesus Christ – the church IS that place!
